Oh, man! I am so behind on this blog...
My main excuse is illness. Our home has been plagued with it for the past month. It started right after my last post with 3 colds for the little guys. Then Corbin vomited the Wednesday before his birthday. For about 6 hrs straight. I had to actually call Jon home from work because I could not take care of this twins while I constantly attended to poor little Corbin. He was miserable, but it was over by the evening, with the exception of his fatigue. That lasted another day or so. Then at 1 AM on Friday morning, Jon and I both woke up sick as a dog. We were both in need a waste recepticle all night long. But of course, it was topped off by the twins waking up at 2 AM with the same violent virus. Oh, to see those babies puking was just awful. And the fact that we were all so sick at the same time was simply awful. We had to call in support from my mother. She bravely came into this infested house and took care of us.
Thankfully, we only puked for the same length of time- about 6 or 7 hrs. Then we were all so exhausted. That was an awful virus. We all recovered on Saturday & were fully rested by Corbin's birthday party on Sunday.
Then we were healthy for a few days until Corbin got another virus. This virus made him incredibly lethargic & feverish, but had no other symtoms. He was ill for a few days & then as soon as he got over that, he caught a cold.
None of us escaped the cold. We all still have it, complete with chapped lips and noses.
Corbin's cold, on top of recent exposure to allergens, turned into wheezing. It's not the first time he's wheezed. When we were in Nashville at my cousin's house, we noticed that he was coughing quite a bit & a bit short of breath (they have a dog). That was really the first time dogs have affected him like that. Before, it was just dog saliva that triggered a hive reaction. Now, it's a reaction to the airbourne dander that he's allergic to. When we spent the night at my mother-in-laws a couple weekends ago, we noticed the same thing, but on a larger scale since we were there longer. Then last Friday night, he was around a few cats & was wheezing that night.
Just the cold, on top of his already challenged immune system, put him over the edge. So, we had him checked out at the urgent care last night. He had a breathing treatment there, which was such a battle. He is so strong willed- the nurse and doctor could not believe how he was fighting. It was hard to hold him down to take it, but it was absolutely necessary. Poor guy. I had promised to take him to see some Christmas lights, so we tried to make it up to him that night by taking him.
He's now on steroids for 5 days, and today he had the inhaler once and one breathing treatment. That actually went a little better this time- maybe because there weren't any strangers present & because he had been through it once. But it was still quite a fight. He still has a lot of stuff to cough up, but he's getting better.
Here are his new scripts:
I hope the start of this cold and flu season is not indicative of how the rest of winter is going to go!
