June Makeovers

Mommy got a new hair color and cut:

Daddy shaved off his beard and mustache:

And most importantly, Mr Cameron got his new specs!

We long awaited his opthalmalogy appointment, and when we finally got him in, the doctor did a series of tests. Poor kid was very upset, but Dr. Golden remarked, "At least he screams with his eyes open."

He held up various lenses to Cam's eyes and saw how they reacted. He determined that he was quite far-sighted, with a prescription of +3.50 in each eye.

We ordered his little glasses & got them in a week later. He does pretty well with keeping them on now, but during the first week, he managed to break them twice. The first time, we were able to reconnect them with a repair kit; The second time, he broke off part of the actual frame, so we needed to get them replaced. Thank goodness for warranties!

Summer!

Summer has officially started and we've already got a couple of weekend trips to the lake under our belt.

The first weekend went so well. Corbin was so excited about it. On the trip up, he kept asking if we were at the lake yet. Then he said he wanted to go fishing at the lake. We made a mental note to ask Grandpa Rick about that to see if we could make that happen.

On Saturday, we had fabulous weather. It was sunny and warm enough to get out the baby pools and splash around. The boys slept so well, too, for being at the lake. The twins slept until 7 & we woke Corbin up around 8-ish. The boys lazily played with some toys and Grandma Kathy while we all drank coffee & woke up.

Each of our boys absolutely loved the pools. Cameron thought that just flopping down in the water as hard as he could was super fun. Corbin thought that cannon-balling into the pool from the slide was the way to go. Here are a couple of shots from the pool:

Cam got in a few really good splashes.

Then Jon took Corbin out in the lake. Corbin took swimming lessons this spring, so he is really comfortable in the water now. I was very pleased that he took to the lake pretty well.

Here comes Daddy!

He got him!

Jon gave Corbin a couple of good tosses up in the air. Corbin protested a little, but in the end, I think he liked it.

Cam said that he wanted to go in the lake (with grunts and pointing), but then he was reluctant to get wet. Grandpa Dusty was game to show him what the lake was about, though.

We got a few boat rides in while we were there. Corbin was so happy to be at the lake!

Jamie really liked running from one gate to the next. Cam wasn't exactly keen on it. He really couldn't figure out to walk on the boat! Here's Jamie:

Corbin was playing a bit with great-grandpa:

Grandpa Rick was more than happy to get Corbin's fishing adventure started. We found a worm and cast it out there, but he didn't catch anything. This time.

Jamie loves going out on to the deck- a little too much, if you ask me. But Grandma Kathy was happy to oblige him.

We took some adorable pics of Corbin 2 years ago, when he was the twins age, in this swing. Here he is now.

Our three sons at the front of the boat, enjoying the ride. This was on Sunday, when the weather was cooler:

Corbin played with some sidewalk chalk out in the back of the cottage. I thought it was cute how he encircled himself with the letters.

During the second weekend trip, I didn't take as many photos because I had taken so many the week before. On Friday afternoon, we got there and set up the pool right away. Corbin somehow got a skinned knee which bled quite a bit. We didn't see it happen & he didn't notice it until we pointed it out. The blood freaked him out a lot and he suddenly was overly sensitive to everything. He started asking to go home because he associated his boo-boo with the lake. You can barely make it out in this pic because I didn't want to call any attention to it by making it obvious that I was taking a photo of it.

I thought that these pretty purple flowers would really make a great background for Jamie, with his fair tone and contrasting swimsuit colors. But could I get him to stay still? Nooooo...

This wet hair of Cam's reminds me of Donald Trump's combover:

Captain Cam, once again

Jamie fell asleep on the boat. So cute...

For a brief moment, the boys watched some Cars on TV. Corbin watched it for a while- I think that he was intrigued by the closed captioning.

The twins thought the novelty of the big window separating the rooms was pretty cool.

When we got back and I was about the load the photos on to the computer, Corbin asked to have his photo taken. Who could resist that opportunity?

Hopefully, we will have many more fun memories from the lake this season to share!
